Privacy notice
Last updated 1 September 2026
This page covers the BFI LFF Fans link page. It is run by fans, it is not affiliated with the British Film Institute, and it is deliberately light on data collection.
The short version
The page loads no analytics and sets no non-essential cookies until you press Accept on the cookie banner. Press Decline and nothing is loaded. Your choice is stored on your own device so the banner only appears once.
What we collect (only after you accept)
If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-K4C4QZFR0C). It records, in aggregate:
- Pages viewed and which outbound links are clicked
- Approximate location (country / city level), derived from your IP address, which Google does not log or store
- Device type, browser, operating system, and screen size
- How you arrived at the page (for example a referring site or social app)
We do not collect your name, email, or any information that identifies you personally, and we do not use this data for advertising or profiling.
Cookies
With analytics accepted, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to tell repeat visits apart. They expire after up to two years. We also store a single small entry in your browser’s local storage (lff-consent) to remember your banner choice; this never leaves your device.
Legal basis
Under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), analytics cookies need your consent. That is why nothing loads until you choose. Where we process the resulting data, our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else is involved
Google acts as our data processor for analytics. Depending on Google’s routing, data may be processed on servers outside the UK; Google relies on the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for those transfers. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address in order to deliver the font files. Outbound links take you to third-party sites (WhatsApp, Instagram, X, and the planning tools listed) that have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics data on this property is retained for 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically. Aggregate reports that contain no identifiers may be kept longer.
Your choices
- Change your mind: clear this site’s cookies and site data in your browser settings. The banner will appear again on your next visit so you can choose differently.
- Block it pre-emptively: use your browser’s tracking protection or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Your rights: because we hold no data that identifies you, we usually cannot single out your records for access or deletion, but you can still contact us with any question.
